The secret to staying young is by forgetting the years on your ID.
Time is an unforgiving force that rushes us into the next stages of life without permission. With age, we must mature into adults who maintain sanity while juggling to-do lists as long at the Nile. But, who says that getting older means straying away from a youthful heart? Perhaps the greatest lesson to learn is that growing older doesn’t mandate growing up.
If you want to stay young then imitate the lifestyle of children. For example, as Pablo Picasso said, “All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” As grown-ups, we’ve lost this childlike sense of life. And that’s actually a sad thing.
When you are young you live a worry free life, no worrying about money or anything. You concentrate on the present and have limitless dreams about the future. You have hope and you see the possibility of everything. When you get hurt you forgive everyone who has wronged you. You cry it out or grieve but don’t stay there, you move on.
15 things to do to imitate the lifestyle of children
Be creative and innovative
Being more childlike helps us to be more creative, more imaginative, more innovative and open to worlds of possibilities., Unleash your creativity Many people, especially in the earlier part of their lives, do not consider themselves creative. Yet once they retire they discover that they can paint or do something with their hands. Give it a go, we all have something creative inside us and it’s important to let that grow.
Children are able to play without a worry in their minds. Stop worrying about things.
Do not be afraid or ashamed to fail
Do not be afraid of failure neither of who is watching. When you fail try again and again and again until you get it right.
Dream and imagine with no limitations.
Be Imaginative and never stop wishfully thinking. Whether you wish upon a star or trust in the act of miracles, never stop believing that your wildest dreams are within reach.
Wishful thinkers are the ones who step outside of the confines of normalcy and turn ordinary ideas into extraordinary things. Because young hearts thrive on possibilities and only if we continuously wish for things that are bigger and better with each passing day will we be able to feed our souls with the excitement of greater opportunities to come.
Always be keen to try new things. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. Look at things with a child’s eye, be curious and explore like you have never explored before. Stay adventurous, try new things, develop new skills, and take up hobbies you’re passionate about.
Be a positive thinker
Positive thinking is the basis of good mental, emotional and spiritual health. You should be positive, hopeful and always looking forward.
Enjoy life fully
Children have pure fun and pure joy from life. They jump, they scream, slide, kick the ball and just concentrate in the moment. Forget about the past or the future, Stop worrying and have fun. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. Have a juvenile sense of humour.
Enjoy the simple things.
I paint, colour, and play like a kid. That makes me feel younger than my age. When you are having fun, age seems to be just a number that wanes away.
Surround yourself with what you love.
Whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, and hobbies – whatever, your home is your refuge.
Connect with like-minded people and make friends
You will thrive when surrounded by like-minded individuals. That is why kids enjoy playing in groups. They are able to do the things they love as much as possible. Rarely can two kids stay together and not reach out to each other. It’s a quality that only old people have adopted.
Tell the people you love that you love them.
Have you ever seen how children do not hold back of their emotions? As we grow up we tend to hold back on our emotions, scared of making a fool of ourselves. Be childlike, let those you love know about it.
As we grow up we tend to worry more about a lot of things. Our appearance, our weight, our height, our age, our complexion. Be young at heart and just know no matter how you look, you are beautiful like that.
And the younger we feel, the closer we are to achieving our goals.
Practice mindful living
Live in the moment: Don’t waste time on the “what if’s” about the future or be stymied by regrets over the past.
Try something new, something daring. Conquer your fears. Do something that scares you every day. Go skydiving, call an old friend you haven’t spoken to in many years past or find a pen pal.
15. Forget about what other people think
Think back to your days as a carefree kid and the joy you experienced as you had those carefree expressions and never worried about who was watching. The minute we allow outside opinions to tell us what we should and should not do, we lose the ability to recognize our instincts; we lose our intuition that allows us to seek elation.
Forget about acting your age and just act yourself.
Too many people pass up opportunities to have their favourite ice cream cone or swing on the swings in the park on a gorgeous day because they don’t think it’s how an adult should act. Stop placing limitations on your heart’s desires simply because of the number of years you have accumulated. When you want to dive into your heart’s youthful craving, forget about acting your age and just act yourself.
Observe children when they are playing. We lose our ability to enjoy life the moment we decide to grow up. We allow the world, the society to constrain us with its expectations.
